About Us
Expatairwaves.com is a virtual space for expat communication. Although there are already many expat websites, with loads of useful information, Expatairwaves.com is dedicated to airing expatriate and repatriate views and experiences, through writing and a discussion forum.

About Our Logo:

Our beautiful butterfly logo has been carefully selected. The Papilio Ulysses Joesa is the Australian sub-species of the more common Ulysses butterfly found in other parts of the world. It was first recorded in 1869 and lives in the tropical rainforests of the north coast of Queensland.

Why for Expatairwaves.com? I felt the concept of the ‘butterfly effect’ (where a single flap of butterfly's wing can cause repercussions of enormous magnitude on the other side of the world) resonates well with the notion that expats and returnees can make ‘global’ messages creatively. Its name also is reminiscent of the Greek mythological hero, Ulysses, who made his own epic journey after the siege of Troy. Finally, for some obscure reason, ‘joesa’ sounded familiar and, as the marker of its Australian distinction, seemed too good a symbol to refuse. This image has been licensed from the CSIRO.
